The Big Guy's Birthday

Yesterday was Jim's 50th Birthday. He was out of town for work so we celebrated his "big" day on Sunday. It was a wonderful day. The weather was gorgeous, the Vikings were playing and his family came over to help him celebrate. For Jim, that was a great day. Thank goodness the Vikings won. It was a very relaxing day and the best part was that everyone brought some food and we had the pizza ( I also did some cheesy decorating). Jim's sister, Joni, ( the pastry chef) made the birthday cake. It was so yummy.

Here is the cake. (that is my nephew Colby in the background)

Here is Jim with his favorite guy. Evan was saying cheese and being cheesy!

I just love this picture of Emma. She is saying cheese and smiling. Very rare that her hands aren't in front of her face when she is saying cheese. She had just had a bath. I love how her hair looks so shiny. (of course we had to put the kids in their Vikings shirt for the big game)

Before the party I put up a few decorations and Evan just loved all the balloons. He walked around with those balloons all morning.

Here he is looking at his prize. He was in heaven. In fact, at one time he started to throw a tantrum. I should make that a post one day. He does such a good job at it.

Here is the birthday boy with his sisters and his kids. Julie wore a Packers shirt as a joke, since we got Brett Farve as our quarterback. It looks like everyone is watching the game, oh wait, they where. At least I got them to smile.

Here is the best picture of the 4 of us. I guess we where looking at another camera.

Happy Birthday Jim. I am glad you liked your day. Now what the heck should I get you for your birthday?!

Tomorrow I will post pics of Emma and the bus.

1st Day of Preschool and a sneak peek

I am having a hard time believing that my little girl started preschool. Emma had her 1st day of school yesterday and she loved every minute of it. Once the doors opened she was in her classroom and checking it all out. I am so glad her 1st day was a success. Next week she will take the bus home. I am not so ready for that, but I think she needs to do it. On to the pictures.

Here is Emma walking into school with her Daddy. She knows this building very well and it shows. She acts like she owns the joint.

Emma is checking out her locker. She is a little to short to reach the handle. Poor thing. But she doesn't seem to mind.

Emma and Daddy. She is jumping out of his arms because she wants to get down and explore.

Emma and Mommy waiting for the doors to open. She is so excited to start her first day.

Of course, we had to get a family shot. Don't mind the expressions on all of our faces. There was a lot going on and one little girl that wanted to be on the move.

This has got to be the sweetest thing I have ever witnessed. This is Emma's friend, Danzel. He loves her. He also has Down syndrome and they have been is school together for a year now. He was so excited to see her and this was how he was walking to her. He wanted to give her a hug. She wasn't so sure about that. But she did give him the biggest smile ever. I think they will be great friends if they continue to go to school together.

He finally got his hug. He is the sweetest little boy and so mellow. Total opposite of Emma ( the mellow part that is).

Emma is in heaven at school. I hope this enthusiasm continues for her. Doesn't she look happy?
Evan wanted to stay at school. I think he would have been sad though.
Emma with Mary Jo, her special ed teacher.

Here is a sneak peek at what our new kitchen/family room will look like. What do you think?

Sorry for all the pictures. Just wanted to share her first day!! Next week I will share her bus adventure.
